YOUR MUSIC

Coastal Bend will write, record and deliver to you an original song around a theme, a person, an event or even your own lyrics (with acceptable modifications, perhaps).   "Ownsongs" can be great gifts and wonderful surprises to commemorate special events -- anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, baptisms, lottery wins, divorces, boat purchases, bankruptcies.-- ok, enough of that.  They can also be great promotional tools for groups with causes or ideas.  Once you have the CD, you can make as many copies as you wish with no restrictions. 

Coastal Bend "ownsongs" will be within the range and style we play -- so please listen to our material -- and "Souls from Victoria" is just such an example of a song based on an event and theme.  We can also do more scaled down acoustical work if that is preferred.

What YOU get

1.  An original, copyrighted, studio quality master CD (typically 3 - 7 minutes long, depending) that can be duplicated as often as you wish.

2.  A "demo" of the song at least one month before it is finalized; sort of like picture proofs -- you can see if you like what you hear and make suggestions.   You will OK the demo.

3.  A direct email connection with us to make sure we are on the right track.

What WE get

1.  Email material from you that becomes the basis of the song -- and we'll email back for more information or elucidation as needed.  Things like:

Lyrics/poems (we might have to make modifications for artistic purposes -- and we'll clear these with you, of course)

A story ("When Clay started cleaning out his basement, he had no idea he would come across a faded old picture of Aunt Myrtle hoola hooping at the County Fair...")

The characteristics of a person (Melita likes to fish, roll smoke, and read Shakespeare -- and generally at the same time...)

The nature or habits of a person (Lauren is so kind to animals; she always makes sure to leave something on her plate for the neighbor's kitten ...)

A special event (Will and Linda are celebrating their fifteenth anniversary, truly ten of the happiest days of their lives...); or (Basel is turning 18 and will soon be joining the Navy -- we'll sure miss him as we redecorate his room with a hot tub...)

An idea or cause (could be akin to a "jingle")

A special performance (Caroline is in the Miss Victoria pageant and wants to sing an original song about how much she loves Texas.  She can hit a high C and sounds a little like Rita Coolidge .. .) 

The more you tell us the better.  You can also suggest style but we'd prefer you didn't crimp us too much.  We can also include you or someone in the recording but only if WE decide that it is doable.

2.  $ 800 paid all at once at start -- OR half at start and half after you OK the demo. 

If the song subject is a child or if the song is primarily for a child, the price is $600 (we like children and think the gift of a song would be awesome).

If you just hate the demo and we cant work it out, we'll send all of your money back except a little, $100. After you OK the demo, there is no refund because we'll be spending all of that money on studio engineers and various technicians who are ornery about being paid.

3.  Two months lead time -- minimum.  If you want your CD for Kyle's March 15th birthday you'll need to contact us by January 15 at the very latest.  We CAN do "rush" work but the price has to be negotiated.
